Excursion “Romantic Kharkov”
The Evening of Love
Love… Love, without any doubt, is one of the most important things in our
life! It is a source of inspiration, gives us strength for great deeds, leads us to
victory and achievements, gives us wings, and pushes to folly! Yes, sometimes
love hurts. Nevertheless, no doubt, exactly love is one of the most important
pushers of our life! Kharkov keeps many love stories…
The best time for listening these stories is evening walk, when our city`s
motley lights burn and twinkle, and create an incredible romantic atmosphere! You
will see many monuments, places and streets from a different angle. In addition,
you will hear four love stories of a famous people – Shevchenko, Pushkin, Gogol
and Karazin, will visit three Lovers` Bridge, will see two places where each
wedding ceremony go as a tradition, will have a walk in the most romantic place
that is loved by thousands of Kharkov couples. I have no any doubt that this
evening walk will bring you bunch of pleasant emotions!
Kharkov always has something to surprise its guests – that`s what say people
who come to our city for the first time. Our city has nice and unusual buildings,
interesting monuments, cozy streets – but it is only what you see on surface!
Behind it, there are many interesting stories!
Most of the time the guides all around planet pick the strategy of telling only
about achievements of their cities, regions or famous persons. As a historian, I
think that mentioned strategy is incorrect, because history is very versatile process!
I have my personal version of an excursion around Kharkov – to let our dear guests
touch Kharkov “soul”, to immerse them into the world of it.
I will be speaking of totally different things: about achievements, discoveries,
successes, facts and people that make Kharkov proud, but also about tragic spots in
the history our city, about things that are rarely mentioned, that can`t make our city
proud at all. In my opinion, it is the only way to understand our city in the right
way, and after you see Kharkov at different angles – you can really love it!
